Internship Opportunities in the Co-op Industry

We are currently developing a formal summer internship program that enhances the skill set of our students while addressing the needs of the Co-op sector. Participants in this program are encouraged to enroll in ARE 132: Cooperative Business Enterprises during the previous winter quarter. ARE 132 emphasizes the role of cooperatives in market-oriented economies and students learn about the fundamentals of cooperatives as economic organizations. To bring this material to life and place it in the context of the pressing environmental and social-cultural challenges of our time, guest speakers from a variety of businesses and organizations (e.g. CoBank, Blue Diamond, Bucra, Sacramento and Davis Food Co-ops, Land O’ Lakes, Cheese Board Collective, Golden State Power Cooperative, Farm Credit System) share their experiences throughout the second part of the quarter.

This program will offer sponsored or paid internships to allow students from diverse backgrounds to participate and generate income to support their studies. We are continuing our outreach and recruiting efforts to establish collaborations with businesses and organizations and will post internship opportunities as they become available here. For further information, please contact Kristin Kiesel.
